RYAN DUNN INTOXICATED BEFORE FATAL ACCIDENT

A few days ago, it was confirmed that Jackass star and co-host of G4's Proving Ground passed away due to a fatal car accident in his Porsche 911 GT3 where he was traveling between 130-140 mph in a 55mph zone. The car barreled through a guard rail into a ravine and slammed into a tree before bursting in flames, killing Ryan Dunn [34 years old] and his friend Zachary Hartwell [30 years old] due to blunt-force trauma from the fire that engulfed the vehicle.

Both guys were drinking at the bar Barnaby's of America, before they passed away. The manager of the bar said, "It's an absolute tragedy. Both men were well respected and had many friends in this community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their family." Both men "did not appear to be visibly intoxicated. That's why we are cooperating fully with local and state police. We've handed the surveillance video over to police, and every one of our staff has given statements to police about what happened that night." Due to the Chester County Coroner's toxicology results, Ryan Dunn's blood alcohol-content was 0.196, two times over the legal limit of 0.08.

Though his death is a tragedy, many would say it was inevitable due to his speed demon history. It has been released from Pennsylvania court records that Ryan Dunn had at least 23 driving infractions throughout the past 13 years in six different counties. Most of the infractions he was found guilty in included speeding, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license, criminal mischief damage to property citation, and two parking related transgressions. He was also arrested twice: one in 2001 for a traffic infraction and in 2005 for DUI! Though charges were dismissed, he completed his probation period and had his license suspended for a year.

Many of his Jackass co-stars are taking the tragedy very hard. Bam Margera gave his only interview to Philly station Fox 29 saying, "I've never lost anybody that I cared about. He's my best friend. I was in Arizona with best friends having the best time with friends. He was the happiest person—the smartest guy with so much talent. It is not right. It was the worst phone call I got in my life." Margera paid a visit to the crash site with his parents, whom they considered him a member of the family.

With Margera, more than 50 others joined together to visit the site and pay their respects, light candles, and leave flowers. A private funeral for Ryan Dunn is scheduled for today to be attended for family and close friends. Though there is no word yet for a public funeral, it is said to be in the works.

Such a tragedy to see anyone pass away from driving under the influence and speeding. Life is so precious and we have to remember that our life we are living today is only temporary, it can be taken away at any moment. Rest in peace to Ryan Dunn and his family.

Westboro Baptist Church To Picket Ryan Dunn's Funeral

The Westboro Baptist Church(if you can call it that) has sent out a memo detailing its plans to picket Ryan Dunn's Funeral. They have in the past generated publicity by picketing gay rights supporters and various other funerals for whatever they find fault with, including innocent children.

The memo seen below, is titled RYAN DUNN IS IN HELL! calls him an "arrogant jackass" who was "famous for his vulgar stunts."  The memo states the WBC will picket all public memorial/funerals held for Dunn.

Ryan Dunn's Blood Alcohol was Twice the Legal Limit at time of Crash

The Daily Local News is reporting that Ryan Dunn's blood alcohol level at the time of the crash was .196, twice the legal limit.

WEST GOSHEN - West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll said Wednesday that "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn's blood alcohol content (BAC) was more than twice the state's legal limit and he may have been traveling as fast as 140 mph at the time Dunn crashed his Porsche Monday morning, killing himself and his passenger.

Carroll said Dunn's BAC was .196 at the time of the accident. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is .08. Carroll said alcohol was the only substance in Dunn's system.

"No other substances were found in his blood other than the alcohol," Carroll said.

Coroner: Ryan Dunn's Death Was Violent

While the toxicology results could take four to six weeks, the Chester County Coroner provided the other results of the autopsy performed on Ryan Dunn and his passenger Zachary Hartwell. They both died very violent deaths and they were more than likely dead before help arrived.

The police believe the car was traveling at 100+ MPH at the time of the wreck and the coroner said that the impact was so violent that it could not be determined if they died from the wreck or the fire that followed.

Roger Ebert Apologizes and Clarifies Tweet

Roger Ebert took to his website and posted the following apology in what appears to be directed to Bam as Ebert writes the apology after first posting the two tweets from Bam.

To begin with, I offer my sympathy to Ryan Dunn's family and friends, and to those of Zachary Hartwell, who also died in the crash. I mean that sincerely. It is tragic to lose a loved one. I also regret that my tweet about the event was considered cruel. It was not intended as cruel. It was intended as true.

I have no way of knowing if Ryan Dunn was drunk at the time of his death.

He then goes on to attempt to clarify what he meant by his tweet.

What did I mean by that? I meant exactly what I wrote. I wasn't calling Ryan Dunn a jackass. In Twitter shorthand, I was referring to his association with "Jackass." I thought that was clear. I note that Bam Margera uses the word "jackass" in the same way in his tweet.

I think what Mr. Ebert has done here is the right thing to do. He is absolutely entitled to his opinion but I believe his tweet was too soon given that all of the facts haven't come out and clarification was definitely needed as the tweet was taken as offensive by Ryan's loved ones. You can read his entire apology and clarification here.

Ryan Dunn's passenger Identified

He is 30 year old Zac Hartwell.  According to police, Dunn appears to have been traveling at a high rate of speed when he tried to take an exit at around 2:30 a.m. near Pottstown Pike and lost control, went airborne over the guardrail, and collided with a tree. The impact resulted in the vehicle bursting into flames.
"Our officers tried to get to the vehicle, but could not do that and shortly after they pulled back, the gas tank exploded," West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll said.
Both Dunn and Hartwell were killed. Investigators say both bodies were burned badly.

More on Ryan Dunn

TMZ has obtained pictures (from June 12) of Ryan Dunn's Porsche 911 GT3, which they claim had special racing rims and was capable of hitting 190 MPH.

Also Roger Ebert disrespectful Tweet:

While it has been reported the Dunn was out drinking prior to the accident there is mixed reports on how intoxicated he may have been. I think its a little to early to blame the booze although they may have ultimately played a role in the crash its too soon for this type of comment.

Johnny Knoxville and others from Jackass have commented via twitter and Knoxville had this to say:

"Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. My heart goes out to his family and his beloved Angie." "RIP Ryan , I love you buddy."
